Italian high-end furniture brand Poltrona Frau has recently collaborated with renowned street artist Shepard Fairey to release the limited edition Archibald Delicate Balance, further elaborating on the deep dialogue between the brand and the contemporary art community.
This armchair originates from the classic piece designed by Jean-Marie Massaud in 2009, now reinterpreted artistically to become a statement rich in cultural significance. It is a highlight of Poltrona Frau's 2026 collection, themed True Over Time, aiming to showcase the essence of authenticity and enduring value through the passage of time, with an official launch scheduled for April 2026 at the Salone del Mobile in Milan.
The artistic imagery of the armchair portrays the relationship between humanity and nature, showcasing the iconic layered visual elements of Shepard Fairey. It captures the essence of the female spirit that symbolizes nature, alongside interactions between birds and flowers, echoing the literary aesthetics of his significant works like Make Art Not War and Rise Above Flower.
In this piece, Poltrona Frau utilizes Pelle Frau® ColorSphere Impact Less leather for digital printing, employing multiple color layers to enhance visual depth. Certain areas feature a 3D embossing, creating a tactile and layered effect reminiscent of Shepard Fairey's physical artwork.
This limited edition is produced in just 200 pieces, each with its own unique number. Additionally, every armchair comes equipped with standard collectible specifications, including a finely polished brass plaque and a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist and the CEO of Poltrona Frau.
