BMW has recently launched the M2 Racing, a racing customer car specifically designed for the track. This model is now available for pre-order at select BMW M Motorsport dealers in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan. Priced at ¥21,000,000, this special edition is aimed at car enthusiasts looking for a high-performance entry into the world of racing.
M2 Racing takes the second-generation BMW M2 as its foundation, completely abandoning road legality to focus on pure racing performance. It features a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine that delivers 308 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque, paired with a race-tuned 8-speed automatic transmission. BMW has also equipped this model with a mechanical limited-slip differential and a custom driveshaft to ensure precise and balanced handling on the track.
This car's design meets FIA standards, featuring a built-in roll cage, Sabelt racing seats, a fire suppression system, and a lightweight CFRP roof. Other racing enhancements include KW racing suspension, Goodyear slick tires, easily detachable body panels, an air lift system, and compatibility with data loggers. While the M2 Racing is crafted for fierce driving, it still retains convenient features like air conditioning and a race-specific dashboard, ensuring driver comfort on the track.
