In mainland China, both private and commercial vehicles must be reported to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) before they can be mass-produced and sold. Once the necessary procedures are completed, the ministry will list the product in the monthly declaration catalog, indicating that it has received approval for mass production. Therefore, it’s exciting to see the smart #6 appearing in the recently announced 402nd batch of new vehicle product public announcements, signaling that this well-hidden smart car is about to hit the production line.

Actually, news has been circulating since the beginning of the year that smart will launch a four-door sedan. Initially, it was thought that this model would debut at the Beijing International Auto Show next April, but it unexpectedly made an early appearance. This new car, dubbed the #6 EHD (Electric Hybrid Drive), is the second product of its kind following the #5 EHD. It features the same 1.5-liter turbo engine, delivering 163 horsepower and 255Nm of torque, transmitted to the front wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. Paired with a 20kWh battery and motor (total system output of 435 horsepower and 635Nm of torque), it achieves a pure electric range of up to 120 kilometers, and with a full tank and full battery, it can reach an impressive total range of 1,500 kilometers.

Additionally, this car shares the same PMA2+ platform with the Zeekr 007, measuring 4.9 meters in length, 1.92 meters in width, and 1.5 meters in height. It also offers an optional adjustable rear wing, showcasing a design that deviates from previous smart products. What do you all think of the smart #6 EHD?
