Recently, Ferrari made a grand debut of the 296 GT3 Evo at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. This new model represents an evolution of the GT3 and LMGT3 platforms, and it's set to officially compete in the 2026 season. Choosing the same location as the original 296 GT3's unveiling three years ago beautifully highlights the legacy and significance of this release.
The 296 GT3 Evo integrates data from the past two years of racing and customer feedback, focusing on enhancing aerodynamic stability, setup flexibility, and component reliability. It retains the same configuration of a 3-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, achieving superior torque transmission through optimized gear ratios. The body has undergone a complete redesign to reduce sensitivity to turbulence and improve the cooling system, specifically optimizing the performance of the front braking system.
This significant visual upgrade includes dual-engine air intakes and a redesigned rear wing, which features a quick-adjust system to enhance adaptability during races. The kinematics of the suspension system have been recalibrated to improve handling and simplify setup in the pit area. In the cockpit, an upgraded air conditioning system provides better comfort for endurance race drivers.
Ferrari is planning to offer an upgrade kit for current owners of the 296 GT3 to showcase its modular design philosophy. This evolution model is born from a successful foundation that has already secured over 140 victories and 405 podiums across 343 races. The introduction of the 296 GT3 Evo aims to elevate Ferrari's GT racing program to newer heights, demonstrating its prowess and ambition on the global motorsport stage.
