Slovakian aerospace company Klein Vision recently unveiled the production prototype of its two-seat flying car, AirCar, which is expected to officially hit the market by early 2026. The starting price for this flying car is estimated to range between $800,000 to $1,000,000 (around HKD 6.24 million to 7.8 million).
Klein Vision has unveiled its latest production prototype, marking the project’s entry into the final stages of technical validation and production deployment. The AirCar has successfully completed over 170 hours of flight tests and more than 500 takeoff and landing tests, earning dual certification in aviation and ground transportation. The official plan is to initially produce 100 units as a test run in the market.
In terms of appearance and functionality, AirCar cleverly blends elements of both planes and cars. In ground mode, its dimensions are 5.8 meters in length, 2 meters in width, and 1.8 meters in height, comparable to the size of a Rolls-Royce Phantom. When switching to flight mode, the rear automatically extends to 7 meters, and the folding wings unfold to an impressive 8.2 meters in wingspan. This entire transformation process takes just about 80 seconds to complete.
The new generation of production models ditches the early testing BMW 1.6-liter engine, opting instead for a new gasoline power system sourced from South Africa, delivering 280 horsepower. The weight remains at 800 kilograms, with a top ground speed reaching 124 miles per hour (about 200 kilometers per hour) and an airborne speed soaring to 155 miles per hour (about 250 kilometers per hour), boasting a maximum range of approximately 1,000 kilometers.
Klein Vision states that the goal of AirCar is to redefine the way private and public transportation operates, aiming to open up new possibilities for aerial commuting. In an interview, the company’s co-founder Anton Zajac mentioned that the team is actively negotiating with aviation regulatory authorities across various countries to ensure that once launched, they can quickly obtain local flight permits, allowing this air and land vehicle to truly integrate into everyday life.
