Mercedes-Benz has recently unveiled the second generation of the GLB, offering both electric and gasoline versions under the same name, meaning the EQB moniker is now a thing of the past. This new model also becomes the third in the new generation of electric vehicles following the CLA and GLC, utilizing the same 800V electrical architecture, significantly improving both range and performance compared to previous EQB models.

The exterior of the new car aligns perfectly with previous expectations, featuring a massive star-pattern grille similar to the GLC, which is the latest design in the family aesthetic. The dimensions of the vehicle have significantly increased compared to the EQB—4.73 meters long, 1.86 meters wide, and 1.68 meters high. Notably, the wheelbase has seen the most substantial growth, reaching 2.88 meters, an increase of 60mm over the predecessor, which greatly enhances passenger comfort. Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that the upper corners of both rear door frames have a 90-degree angle, making it easier for passengers to access the second and third rows. For the first time, this model also offers a starry glass roof (which comes at an extra cost), allowing you to stargaze right from the inside, even against the backdrop of Hong Kong’s often clouded night sky!

As for the powertrain configuration, as mentioned earlier, the focus will initially be on electric vehicles, with the gasoline hybrid versions to be introduced later. There are two electric models available: the 250+ and the 350 4Matic. Both models are equipped with the same 85kWh battery. The former features a rear-wheel drive single motor that delivers 272 horsepower and 335 Nm of torque, with a maximum range of up to 631 kilometers. The latter comes with an all-wheel drive dual motor setup offering 354 horsepower and 515 Nm of torque, achieving a range of 614 kilometers. While pre-orders have already begun in Germany, the starting price for the 250+ is €59,048 (approximately HKD 530,000 before tax), and the 350 4Matic starts at €62,178 (about HKD 560,000 before tax). We believe the Hong Kong version won’t be on the roads until at least the second quarter of next year!
