Porsche 911 GT3 Breaks Nürburgring Record as Fastest Manual Car

The latest 992.2 generation Porsche 911 GT3 recently underwent testing at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Piloted by brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister, it set a stunning lap time of 6 minutes and 56.294 seconds, earning the title of the fastest production car with a manual transmission to date.

The next-generation 911 GT3 comes packed with plenty of exciting features, including the Weissach package, improved suspension system, and shorter gear ratios. All of these enhancements make the 510-horsepower engine even more agile in corners and deliver a much sharper acceleration—shaving off an impressive 3.633 seconds compared to the previous 992.1 model equipped with a PDK transmission. This record-breaking vehicle was fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R tires, and Jörg Bergmeister specifically praised its upgraded chassis, derived from the GT3 RS, which gave him greater confidence when driving over bumpy terrain.

Notably, the 911 GT3 has smashed the record for the fastest manual production car, previously held by the Dodge Viper ACR. The latter's test track length was 20.6 kilometers at the time, which, when converted to the now-standard 20.832 kilometers, translates to an approximate lap time of 7 minutes and 5.8 seconds.
