Max Verstappen, the winner of the American GP sprint race, showcased his incredible strength in the finals, reigniting the battle for the annual championship among three contenders. The closely contested finals are set to take place soon, with highly anticipated race strategies taking center stage.
The qualifying session for the race start positions began about three and a half hours after the conclusion of the sprint race, drawing the attention of all the fans in attendance. Despite Hadjar’s retirement due to a crash not long after the race began, Verstappen maintained control of the track, securing pole position with a time of 1:32.510, while Norris and Leclerc took the second and third spots, respectively.
The finals are set to take place on the track, where the fierce competition between Verstappen and Norris will be showcased once again. As a penalized driver from the sprint race, Stroll will have to fall back five positions, which undoubtedly impacts the strategic layout of the race.
In the early stages of the race, Verstappen successfully defended against Norris’s challenge, helping Leclerc overtake Norris at Turn 1. Other drivers like Hamilton and Piastri also made impressive gains. Despite a collision between Albon and Bortoleto, the track quickly returned to normal, and the intense competition continued.
An incident on the seventh lap prompted the race to deploy a virtual safety car, allowing Leclerc and Bearman some breathing room. Meanwhile, Norris successfully closed the gap to Verstappen on lap 14, launching into a prolonged battle of attack and defense. Ultimately, Verstappen leveraged his lead to make a smooth tire change on lap 34, gearing up for the challenges ahead.
As the race entered its final stages, Bearman attempted to launch an attack on Tsunoda but wasn’t successful, which allowed Hulkenberg behind him to seize the opportunity and fight for a better position.
