Scuderia Ferrari recently announced the launch of its brand new F1 car, the SF-25, which will be the team’s main contender for the upcoming 2025 Formula 1 season. The unveiling event took place at the O2 Arena in London, with Ferrari’s CEO Benedetto Vigna, team principal Fred Vasseur, and drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton in attendance to reveal this highly anticipated car. According to the schedule, the SF-25 will undergo closed testing at Ferrari’s Fiorano track, followed by a trip to Bahrain for preseason testing, and will make its official debut at the opening race in Australia.
As the 71st F1 car in Ferrari’s history, the SF-25 may carry on the traditional car name, but it introduces several significant innovations in its design. Led by Technical Director Loic Serra, the team made notable adjustments to the front suspension system, switching from a push-rod to a pull-rod configuration. This change optimizes airflow control, enhancing aerodynamic performance. Although the power unit couldn’t be changed due to regulatory constraints, Ferrari focuses on race weekend performance strategies, pursuing peak performance through meticulous adjustments to tackle the fierce competition in each race.
In terms of appearance, the SF-25 has been completely revamped, featuring a deeper matte racing red body complemented by striking white stripes, giving the race car a modern feel while paying homage to Ferrari’s classic style. This design draws inspiration from the 499P Hypercar, which Ferrari competes with in the World Endurance Championship (WEC), with the red and white glossy details clearly reflecting the brand’s history and avant-garde aesthetics. Furthermore, the wheel rim design echoes the car’s red body, showcasing Ferrari’s unique design language in every detail. Leclerc and Hamilton’s race numbers are displayed in the exclusive Ferrari Sans font, further emphasizing the team’s visual unity.
The SF-25 will undergo its competitive testing for the first time in Bahrain to evaluate the car’s performance in real-world conditions. The team will also take this opportunity to make further adjustments to the racing setup to ensure competitiveness in the upcoming season. Following this, the SF-25 will kick off the 2025 season in Australia, becoming the focal point of anticipation for fans around the globe.
As the most iconic team in the F1 arena, every appearance of Ferrari leaves motorsport fans around the world in awe. The arrival of the SF-25 undoubtedly brings even more anticipation and excitement for the 2025 season.
