Xiaomi has just launched its latest SU7 Ultra production version, equipped with a super three-motor system that delivers a staggering total output of 1,548 horsepower. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.98 seconds, while reaching a top speed of 359.71 km/h. Xiaomi's founder, Lei Jun, hailed this car as the "strongest four-door production car on the planet," directly targeting luxury electric car brands like Tesla and Porsche. Priced at 529,900, this marks a reduction of nearly 300,000 from previous estimates, with hopes of redefining luxury cars and making them more affordable for the masses.
The prototype of the SU7 Ultra set a record for the fastest four-door car at 6 minutes and 46.874 seconds at the Nürburgring in Germany last year, showcasing that China's new energy vehicles can stand on the same level as top global brands. At the "Double Ultra" launch event, Lei Jun stated that the SU7 Ultra is one of Xiaomi's top products in the past 15 years, aiming to compete with the performance, technology, and luxury experience of brands like Porsche, Tesla, and BBA (BMW, Benz, Audi).
This production version offers five color options, including "Lightning Yellow, Obsidian Black, Pearl White, Space Silver, and Parrot Green," accented with silver stripes and an aerodynamic package that features a large front splitter, optional forged wheels, and a carbon fiber fixed rear wing. Inside, it boasts brand-new sports seats and a carbon fiber steering wheel, utilizing plenty of Alcantara microfiber material. The central control screen is equipped with a bespoke UI, providing drivers with an enhanced experience.
The SU7 Ultra features a tri-motor all-wheel drive system, equipped with two Xiaomi Super Motors V8s and one Xiaomi Super Motor V6s, combined with the Kirin 2nd generation high-efficiency battery, ensuring sustained high power output. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.98 seconds, takes 5.86 seconds to reach 200 km/h, and even achieves 0 to 400 km/h in only 9.23 seconds, surpassing the performance of the Porsche Taycan Turbo. Additionally, Lei Jun revealed that the SU7 Ultra is equipped with a track-grade cooling system and ceramic braking system, with the chassis tuning coming from the Nürburgring, allowing the standard version to easily handle track driving.
Lei Jun stated that Xiaomi's goal for car deliveries in 2024 is 300,000 units, and since the SU7 Ultra opened for reservations at the end of last year, it has received 3,600 orders within just 10 minutes. Sales this year are expected to reach 10,000 units. The launch of the SU7 Ultra intensifies the price war in the global high-performance electric vehicle market.
