BYD's high-end brand Yangwang has recently launched its brand new U9 track edition electric supercar. This stunning vehicle is equipped with four independent electric motors, delivering a jaw-dropping total output of 3,018 horsepower. This figure makes it the most powerful production supercar on the market today, even surpassing the electric supercar king, Rimac Nevera, which boasts 2,107 horsepower.
The U9 track version is powered by four independent electric motors, each boasting 755 horsepower. This marks a significant boost compared to the standard U9's 1,287 horsepower, propelling this supercar into a new era of 3,000 horsepower. This power configuration not only delivers instantaneous acceleration but also endows the vehicle with exceptional acceleration performance and high-speed stability. In tests of the standard U9, an impressive top speed of 391.91 km/h was already achieved, and if the electronic speed limiter is removed for the track version, it is expected to surpass 400 km/h.
Although the U9 track version shares a similar appearance with the standard version, it has undergone multiple upgrades tailored for track performance. The front is equipped with a dedicated splitter that effectively increases downforce on the front wheels, enhancing stability during high-speed cornering. The roof features a lightweight carbon fiber design, which not only reduces the vehicle's weight but also lowers the center of gravity, improving handling precision. The new 20-inch wheels are paired with track-specific tires that are as wide as 325mm, working in conjunction with the swan neck rear wing and large rear diffuser to further enhance overall aerodynamic performance. These upgrades not only improve the visual distinction but also take into full consideration the high-speed stability and downforce required by the powerful horsepower.
The launch of the Yangwang U9 Track Edition not only represents a challenge from a Chinese brand in the supercar market, but also serves as a significant symbol of the Chinese automotive industry showcasing its technological prowess in pure electric technology against top European brands. In the context of increasingly fierce competition within the global high-performance electric vehicle landscape, Yangwang leverages extreme specifications and advanced technology to demonstrate its technical capabilities and brand ambitions. The standard U9 is priced at 1.68 million RMB (approximately 1.81 million HKD) and is set to begin official sales in the near future. If the Track Edition successfully hits the market, it will fundamentally change the rules of the supercar segment and set new standards for electric supercars.
