Apple recently announced an upcoming software update for the AirPods Max. This update will introduce lossless compressed audio and an ultra-low latency audio mode, enhancing the overall experience for users in music production, gaming, and entertainment.
With the latest upgrade, AirPods Max will become the industry's first headphones equipped with Personalized Spatial Audio creation and mixing capabilities, utilizing head tracking technology to redefine professional music production and elevate audio standards for high-end users.
This update will support 24-bit, 48 kHz high-fidelity compressed audio, ensuring that studio-level details are preserved during playback, allowing users to perfectly experience every note in its authentic form. Additionally, this technology enhances the precision of Personalized Spatial Audio, delivering a more immersive soundstage effect. Apple Music subscribers will have access to over 100 million high-fidelity audio tracks.
In the realm of music production, this marks a significant shift. AirPods Max now supports a direct connection to Logic Pro and other music applications via a USB-C cable, offering music creators real-time Personalized Spatial Audio composition and mixing capabilities. Additionally, they can benefit from the superior dynamic spatial audio experience enabled by head-tracking technology. Low-latency, high-resolution audio ensures creators can achieve more precise sound control during recording and mixing without compromising audio fidelity.
Beyond professional musicians, gamers and streamers can also benefit from this update. The ultra-low latency audio significantly reduces sound delay, enabling the AirPods Max to achieve response speeds comparable to the built-in speakers of Mac, iPad, and iPhone. This further enhances audio synchronization for gaming and livestreaming, ensuring real-time reactions and a deeply immersive experience.
Currently, the AirPods Max are priced at HKD 4,599, available in color options such as Midnight, Starlight, Blue, Purple, and Orange, all purchasable at the Apple Store. Lossless audio compression and ultra-low latency audio will be released free of charge this quarter through firmware updates for iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, and macOS Sequoia 15.4, applicable to all AirPods Max models featuring USB-C charging.
In addition, the USB-C to 3.5 mm audio cable has officially launched, priced at HKD 299. This cable can be used to connect AirPods Max to a 3.5 mm audio output, such as the audio jack on airplanes. Users can also connect iOS or iPadOS devices to a 3.5 mm audio input, like car stereos or other audio equipment.
