Amazon Web Services (AWS) recently held its annual AWS Summit and Expo at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, themed We create the tools so you can bring any idea to life., attracting numerous industry professionals. This year’s event focused on the latest in cloud technology and generative AI applications, featuring over 60 professional talks and a variety of practical workshops.
It's especially noteworthy that this year's summit has set up a large exhibition area named AWS AI Hub, making it the largest generative AI experience zone in history. Visitors can dive deep into the practical applications of AI technology through interactive displays, including enterprise-level large language model services like Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Q. Several Hong Kong companies are also actively showcasing how they leverage generative AI to enhance business efficiency and innovate services.
During the opening speech, Mr. Huang Zhiguang, JP, from the Office of Digital Policy emphasized the Hong Kong SAR government's commitment to promoting digital transformation. Robert Wang, the Managing Director of AWS Hong Kong and Taiwan, shared the latest developments in cloud technology during the keynote address, highlighting how AWS is helping businesses achieve digital transformation. He specifically mentioned that generative AI will fundamentally transform the way businesses operate, assisting Hong Kong companies in enhancing their competitiveness.
During the event, Brad Jones, the CEO of PayMe by HSBC, and Derek Choi, the Managing Director of Consumer Marketing and Pay TV at HKT, shared how they are leveraging AWS cloud technology to revolutionize their business models. The summit featured multiple practical workshops designed for participants at various stages—from beginners to seasoned IT professionals—ensuring there was something for everyone. Topics covered included popular themes such as generative AI applications, cloud migration, and data analytics.
The AWS Training and Certification department was also on-site, offering professional consultations to help participants design their cloud learning pathways. Many attendees found that these workshops provided invaluable practical opportunities to apply the knowledge they gained in their work.
AWS Hong Kong Startup Day provides a platform for local startups to showcase innovative technology. Representatives from several Hong Kong startups, such as AlikeAudience’s product manager Chan Chi-ho and Apoidea Group's co-founder Zheng Junhong, shared how they expanded their businesses using AWS technology.
There’s also a dedicated Ask an Expert consultation area, allowing participants to discuss specific technical issues one-on-one with AWS experts and receive personalized advice. Meanwhile, AWS for Industries Pavilion offers tailored solutions for different industries, enabling visitors to discover how to apply AWS technology in specific industry scenarios through interactive demonstrations.
