Dyson recently unveiled its latest wireless vacuum cleaner, the PencilVac Fluffycones, which revolutionizes traditional cyclone technology with a fresh design. This innovative approach not only reduces its size and weight but also effectively tackles the issue of hair tangling. This wireless vacuum emphasizes convenience and efficiency, making it especially suitable for modern households.
The PencilVac features the all-new Hyperdymium 140k micro motor, measuring just 28 millimeters in diameter yet boasting an astonishing speed of 140,000 RPM and a suction power of 55 AW. This innovative design gives the vacuum cleaner a sleek, slender silhouette that stands in stark contrast to traditional models on the market. Brand founder James Dyson has long envisioned a vacuum with a diameter of only 38 millimeters, and this new product aligns perfectly with that vision. Plus, at just 1.8 kilograms, the PencilVac significantly lightens the load compared to typical cordless vacuums, which weigh between 2.6 to 5.4 kilograms, making it a breeze for users.
This vacuum cleaner features an innovative Fluffycones floor head designed with four conical brush strips that effectively guide long hair to the narrow end, preventing hair from tangling. Additionally, the head’s protruding design on both sides allows for flexible cleaning of those hard-to-reach corners along walls, and with a minimum height of just 9.5 centimeters, it’s perfect for getting under furniture for a thorough clean. It also comes with a green LED lighting system to help users illuminate fine dust. At the top of the vacuum, there's an LCD display that lets users check battery life and cleaning modes at a glance.
The dust collection system is cleverly hidden inside the handle. Despite its modest capacity of 0.08 liters, the innovative compression technology allows it to hold dust equivalent to five times its physical capacity. When it's time to empty the dust bin, simply push the Syringe-style lever mechanism for a quick and easy release of dust—no complicated maneuvers needed. The PencilVac is also Dyson's first vacuum cleaner to support a mobile application, enabling users to monitor battery status, receive filter maintenance reminders, and access repair guides through the MyDyson App. The battery life can last up to 60 minutes in ECO mode, and it's designed to be replaceable, featuring a magnetic charging dock.
In terms of random accessories, the PencilVac features a rotating combination gap tool and a tapered tool specifically designed for pet hair removal. The former is perfect for cleaning those hard-to-reach narrow spaces up high, while the latter easily tackles pet hair on furniture. All accessories can be neatly stored on a magnetic charging dock. As for the price, it's reported to have a suggested retail price of 84,920 yen (approximately HKD 5,550) in the Japanese market, with the price and release date for Hong Kong yet to be announced.
