The iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to be Apple’s first smartphone equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery. According to reports from China, Apple is preparing a high-capacity battery for the upcoming Pro Max model, signaling a departure from the previous trend of limited battery capacity increases, bringing it in line with flagship Android devices.
Over the years, Apple has steadily increased the battery capacity of its iPhone Pro Max series. Although the battery capacity of the iPhone 14 Pro Max is slightly lower than that of the iPhone 13 Pro Max, the overall trend continues to enhance battery life. Currently, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is equipped with a 4,685 mAh battery, and if the iPhone 17 Pro Max seizes this opportunity to feature a 5,000 mAh battery, it will set a new historical record for Apple’s battery capacity.
In the realm of Android, a 5,000 mAh battery has become the standard for flagship devices. Some Chinese brands have even leveraged silicon-carbon (Si/C) battery technology to achieve breakthroughs in battery capacity, distancing themselves from competitors. While Samsung and Google continue to maintain the 5,000 mAh benchmark, the industry as a whole has entered an era of competition for higher capacity.
If Apple indeed increases the battery capacity as rumored, it would significantly enhance iPhone users’ perceptions of battery life, especially for the Pro Max model. This change could also align with the new generation of processors and energy-saving screen technologies, providing users with an overall boost in battery performance.
