This special package, created by Leica AG for Pope Francis, includes an all-silver chrome M-A camera and a Noctilux-M 50 mm f/1.2 lens, both inscribed with the significant serial number 5,000,000, which will undoubtedly make it the star of this auction.
The exquisite details of this limited edition camera are impossible to overlook: the body is crafted from a unique white leather, while the base plate, back door, and control elements are all hand-painted, adorned with meaningful engravings. The flash hot shoe cover is etched with Key of Saint Peter, and the top plate features the Pope's motto The phrase "Miserando atque eligendo" can be interpreted as "By having mercy and choosing."
