In this latest modification project, there’s no longer a need to carry an additional keyboard as in previous designs. Instead, Apple’s Magic Keyboard is seamlessly integrated into the setup, paired with a VESA-compatible touchscreen that’s almost the same size as the keyboard. This configuration is powered by just a single connecting cable. With this design, the setup offers not only portability but also enhanced functionality, becoming the core component of a portable Mac Mini.
Since the screen outweighs the keyboard, the creator ingeniously tackled the tipping risk by using the Mac Mini itself to add weight to the side of the keyboard, cleverly solving the balance issue. At the same time, to ensure user convenience, the Mac Mini was placed horizontally beneath the screen. This not only maintained a sleek aesthetic but also considered ergonomics. Additionally, all key components, including screen connection cables, cooling vents, and fan air intakes, were seamlessly incorporated into the design without compromising daily functionality. Additionally, the H2D doubles as a drawing and laser cutting machine, providing creators with a broader design latitude. It even includes an embedded TPU soft pad for the screen, preventing scratches on the shell during operation and improving both the tactile experience and durability.

The creator mentioned that this device works seamlessly in environments like coffee shops where power outlets are available. Additionally, the screen's aspect ratio is ideal for long hours of focused writing, and its touch responsiveness has exceeded expectations. While the built-in speakers are average, it serves as an exceptionally competent platform for primary text-based work. What's even more exciting is that the creator revealed he has already started designing a version of the portable Mac Mini with a built-in battery.
