To all the readers intrigued by Android phones, it’s clear that the only major player that hasn’t released a new model for 2025 so far this year is Sony. But the wait is over, as Sony has finally dropped some exciting news on their social platforms! They will unveil their brand-new flagship Xperia 1 series, the Xperia 1 VII, on May 13 at 10 AM Japan time (which translates to 12 PM the same day in Hong Kong). The company has also teased us with an official trailer that gives a glimpse of what’s to come with this new device.
According to the official latest trailer, the appearance of the Xperia 1 VII is very similar to its predecessor's design, showing almost no significant changes, and it has at least been confirmed to feature a black body. The trailer mentions Next ONE is Coming, indicating that the Xperia 1 series is about to welcome a new generation of products.
It's worth noting that the video specifically mentions Sony's Alpha 1 series cameras. Does this imply that some of the technology from last year's Alpha 1 II mirrorless interchangeable lens camera will be integrated into the Xperia 1 VII? The video also showcases two lenses, including the SEL70200GM2 telephoto lens and the SEL50F12GM large aperture lens, which could significantly enhance long-range shooting and bokeh effects. Additionally, previous news has hinted at the return of a 4K display, leaving us eager to see if this will indeed become a reality.
Additionally, foreign media reports suggest that the Sony Xperia 1 VII may make its debut in Japan at the launch event on May 13, with releases in other countries and regions expected until July. Is there any truth to these rumors? And will there be a chance for a simultaneous launch in Hong Kong? All these questions will be answered at next week's launch event.
