Recently, outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, there was a shocking explosion involving a Tesla Cybertruck, resulting in one fatality and seven others lightly injured. Authorities are currently investigating whether this incident is linked to a terrorist attack. However, officials have emphasized that there is currently no evidence connecting this to any terrorist organization.
According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Chief Kevin McMahill, a car exploded just 15 seconds after pulling up at the hotel entrance. Investigators found multiple gasoline barrels, camping fuel canisters, and large firework shells in the trunk of the vehicle, but the exact method of detonation has yet to be confirmed. McMahill described the incident as "isolated" and noted that the Cybertruck was a rental, arriving in Las Vegas from Colorado that morning. Thick smoke was seen billowing from the valet parking area of the hotel around 8:40 AM local time, followed by a fierce explosion, with footage showing the vehicle engulfed in flames.
The hotel immediately initiated an evacuation procedure when a rented Cybertruck became the center of attention. The individual who rented the Cybertruck has been identified, though their name is still under wraps pending identity verification. Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk, has stated that the company's top brass is keeping a close watch on the situation and promised ongoing updates as the investigation continues. Posting on the social media platform X, Musk clarified that the explosion wasn’t directly related to the vehicle itself but was primarily due to a large amount of fireworks and potential explosives inside the car. This incident raises eyebrows, especially given Musk’s recent close ties with Donald Trump and his appointment as head of the "Department of Government Efficiency," tasked with slashing the federal budget.
