The New York-based creative studio Ready To Hang (RTH) is renowned for its distinctive sculptural mirror designs. Recently, it has made a dazzling leap onto the stage of the upcoming Milan Design Week, bringing its iconic aesthetic into the spotlight. This time, RTH is set to unveil two captivating installation exhibits, marking the brand's debut on the European design scene.
RTH's very first exhibition was held at the traditional barbershop Parrucchiere, located in Milan's Porta Venezia district. This immersive pop-up exhibit sparked the curiosity of its audience by blending the nostalgic vibe of a classic barbershop with contemporary design, creating a unique dialogue between retro and modern aesthetics. The exhibition was a collaboration with Convey and featured pieces such as the Gotchi mirror, crafted in a chromed finish. This mirror stood out for its futuristic design, characterized by a hemispherical shape with a square center that dips inward, making a striking visual impact. Additionally, the Squeeze mirror was on display, featuring a vibrant green sphere seemingly pressed into its center, which energized the space and introduced an element of surprise and wonder.
The second installation by RTH, Between seeing, is set up at Alcova, delving into a more introspective exploration of art. This installation invites the audience to contemplate themes of existence, illusions, and observation through a surrealistic landscape composed of floating fabric, glass, and mirrors. This exhibition is a collaborative project between Le Labo and artist Claire Marie Astruc, showcasing a dreamlike space that exists between form and perception.
At the exhibition, you can explore many of RTH's classic frames. Frames like Big Squeeze, Clasp, Bezel, and Puffer have been reinterpreted with fresh colorways. In addition, exciting new designs such as Jerry Miller make their debut. Its jelly-like translucent frames stand out as the visual centerpiece of the exhibition, delicately highlighting the contrast between soft and rigid materials.
These two exhibitions by RTH will be unveiled during Milan Design Week. Running from April 15th to 21st, they promise to deliver a priceless art experience for design enthusiasts.
