In a recent episode of Pokemon Presents, the official announcement revealed the long-awaited first permanent outdoor theme park PokéPark KANTO (Pokémon Park Kanto), set to grandly open in Spring 2026 at Tokyo Yomiuri Land. Spanning approximately 2.6 hectares, the park is expected to start ticket sales in Autumn 2025, offering Pokémon trainers around the world an unprecedented experience.
PokéPark KANTO features two main themed areas, Pokémon Forest and Reed Town, where over 600 Pokémon will inhabit this magical land. The Pokémon Forest boasts approximately 500 meters of diverse terrain, including winding paths, grassy areas, tunnels, and mountain trails, allowing visitors to relive their adventurous experiences in a natural environment.
During the forest adventure, trainers can run freely, engage in battles, share berries, and witness the rich Pokémon ecology primarily found in the Kanto region. The facility's design takes into account the needs of different age groups, with some giant Pokémon offering visitors a unique viewing experience, while others are cleverly concealed in the soil and grass, waiting to be discovered.
As a hub for Pokémon trainers, Lushreed Town features a variety of entertainment facilities, including a well-stocked Pokémon Trainer Market, a Pokémon Center, friendly shops, and classic gym locations. In addition, visitors can enjoy a Pokémon-themed welcome parade, explore various amusement attractions, and have a unique experience greeting guests at the West Lion Sea Lion Fountain.
This design not only allows visitors to fully immerse themselves in the world of Pokémon, from wild adventures to urban living, but also provides an immersive role-playing experience. It’s important to note that PokéPark KANTO is not operating independently; the management of the park will be a collaborative effort among Pokémon, Yomiuri Land, and the Yomiuri Shimbun Tokyo headquarters, creating a collective dreamland.
These three parties have a history of successful collaborations, such as the nature adventure experience Pokémon Fantastical Journey launched in 2021 and the first event of Pokémon Dragon King Battle held in 2014. The officials have stated that specific ticket sales methods and prices have yet to be announced, but given the immense global popularity of Pokémon, ticket sales are expected to spark a buying frenzy. For those planning to travel to Japan next year, make sure to stay tuned for updates!
