After six years of anticipation, Jolin Tsai is set to release her new album Pleasure. Following the buzz generated by the title track, the second single DIY will soon be available on digital music platforms worldwide.
This new track, penned by Jolin Tsai herself, centers around the theme of Body, continuing the sensual exploration from her first single and further addressing one’s inner desires. Jolin Tsai states that DIY marks the beginning of awakening, urging listeners to become aware of their body’s needs. In our daily lives, the messages from our bodies are often overlooked or misconstrued, whether due to shyness or fear, and people should confront them with honesty and courage.
The single’s cover art is incredibly striking, featuring Jolin Tsai in a vibrant red vest, lazily lounging on a red inflatable bed, with numerous hands reaching out from beneath—their suggestive nature creating intense tension that echoes the classic scene from Pleasure’s music video, The Wall of Original Sin.
In terms of music composition, DIY’s melody is a collaboration between creator Richard Craker and British composer Jackson Dimiglio Wood, with the arrangement crafted by Chen Xinghan alongside emerging music group Zheng Renhao, Morrison Ma, and CYH. In pursuit of perfection, this track underwent an astonishing 34 versions of arrangements, reflecting Jolin Cai’s unwavering commitment to music and her meticulous attention to detail.
