Nine internationally renowned contemporary artists have come together to create the global premiere art piece Sesame Street, which recently had its grand opening at the Art and Cultural Festival Australia 2025 exhibition Fountain of Happiness: Dopamine held at The Venetian Macao.
This special exhibition is founded on the aesthetics of dopamine, using vibrant colors, limitless imaginative spaces, and the expression of positive emotions to provoke thoughts about the essence of happiness. Featured artists include Craig & Karl, Li Qiting, GRAFFLEX, Lu Xi, Ilya Milstein, Jun Oson, Jonni Cheatwood, and Zhou Song, who collaborate to incorporate the globally recognized Sesame Street character into their works, adding a unique creative touch to the exhibition.
The exhibition aims to continue the curatorial vision of Macau Art + City, featuring artworks displayed on the iconic Venetian architecture known for its European style, creating a unique artistic atmosphere. Tourists from various regions and local citizens together appreciate the artworks, feeling the joy brought by the theme. In this multicultural city, the audience can experience the power of art and discover a stirring sensation within themselves.
At the opening ceremony, the Director of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macau Special Administrative Region, Leung Wai Man, stated that since its inaugural event in 2019, the Cultural Gathering in Australia Art Biennale has now entered its fourth edition, showcasing an increasingly robust artistic prowess. She highlighted that the diversity and innovation of this exhibition have recontextualized the praises of Roman mythology, allowing the public to delve deeply into the softest parts of the soul.
Dr. Wang Yingwei, the Executive Vice Chairman of Sands China Ltd., emphasized that this special exhibition is not just an interaction between artists and the audience, but also a fusion of different cultures. Here, art transcends mere observation, embodying elements that add joy to people’s lives. Additionally, the parallel exhibition Boundless Art: International Contemporary Art Exhibition showcases the innovative personalities of six artists and inspires the audience to reconsider the boundaries of contemporary art.
To enhance the connection between art and the local community, Sands China offers a series of activities, including themed sharing sessions and family-friendly art workshops, striving to share the power of art with a wider audience. Li Yiting’s belief in art therapy calls for families to come together and build closer ties through art.
This exhibition not only showcases the talents of the artists but also further highlights Macau’s position in international cultural exchange, encouraging visitors to engage in a genuine dialogue with art, which is sure to provide the public with endless inspiration.
