The City of Dreams in Macau is recently hosting a significant cultural event, collaborating with London’s Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) to grandly present the Horst: The Fashion Photographer photography touring exhibition. Running from now until September 12, this exhibition brings the classic works of legendary 20th-century photographer Horst P. Horst to Macau.
Horst P. Horst is regarded as one of the most influential fashion photographers of the 20th century, renowned for his precise use of light and shadow, elegant compositions, and surrealist style. Throughout his illustrious career spanning over 60 years, this master created iconic portraits of numerous legends, including Coco Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, and Andy Warhol, leaving behind countless timeless classics.
This exhibition features a curated selection of Horst's masterpieces, divided into five key themes: Haute Couture, Surrealism, Stage and Screen, Fashion in Colour, and Living in Style. Visitors will be able to delve into the world of light and shadow that Horst has meticulously crafted, experiencing everything from the elegance of Paris haute couture to his avant-garde collaborations with art giant Salvador Dalí, fully immersing themselves in his unique artistic charm.
In addition, the exhibition features a special unit A Tribute to Horst showcasing works from five Chinese photographers: Feng Hai, Mei Yuangui, Xu Chuang, Yang Gangsheng, and Zeng Wu. This presents an artistic dialogue across time and space through an Eastern perspective, inviting the audience to gain different reflections and inspirations.
