Terence Lam has released a brand new track Summer Child MV, uniquely directed by Sheng Wong and filmed entirely on the iPhone 16 Pro Max. This visual journey invites viewers into a summer adventure filled with warmth and splashes of water. Scenes of pool play, rainy landscapes, and artificial snow are all captured in natural light and spontaneous motion, showcasing a perspective that is both close to life and delicately nuanced.
Sheng Wong noted that using the iPhone for photography is just like capturing everyday moments with a mobile device. It’s agile and flexible, allowing photographers to instantly seize unmissable moments. This is particularly true during water battles and pool scenes, where the splashes are vividly captured in slow motion at 4K 120 fps and 2K 240 fps, presenting a pure and liberating visual experience. Sheng especially highlighted that the iPhone’s waterproof specifications eliminate concerns about water damage when shooting in aquatic or rainy settings, enabling a greater focus on capturing the emotional interplay between Lin Jia-Qian and the characters in the story, without the need to constantly switch lenses or change camera equipment.
The music video features tight spaces and dynamic camera movements, showcasing scenes like running after a bus and cycling through falling snow. Sheng shares a first-person perspective shot with an iPhone’s ultra-wide lens, making viewers feel as though they’re experiencing the journey and exploration alongside Lin Jia-qian. Colorist Allen also believes that the integration of the A18 Pro chip with the Apple Log format allows for ideal layering and purity in night scenes and low-light environments, such as shooting on a beach at night, where noise is effectively managed. With the application of official or custom LUT for color grading, corrections can be quickly completed while retaining a rich dynamic range. Sheng notes that under ample sunlight, the highlight and shadow information preserved in the Apple Log is particularly outstanding, giving the images a soft, cinematic quality while enhancing work efficiency.
Sheng believes that the iPhone’s photography capabilities not only offer greater flexibility on a technical level but, more importantly, allow for the simultaneous expression of narrative and emotional capture.
