Cathay Pacific recently launched a brand new business class in-flight dining series Savor the Flavors of China, inspired by the eight major cuisines of China. This new culinary experience blends culture with gastronomy and is initially available on routes between Hong Kong and mainland China, with plans to gradually expand to more destinations and cabin classes in the future. This series, together with Hong Kong-style flavor and Global Flavors, creates a diverse menu that showcases the innovation in airline dining and highlights the brand’s commitment to promoting Chinese culture.

The eight major culinary traditions encompass Sichuan, Fujian, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, Guangdong, Anhui, and Hunan, each with its own distinctive flavors and history. The Cathay Pacific culinary team has meticulously rethought ingredient pairings and cooking techniques to address the impact of high-altitude environments on taste, while also emphasizing presentation. This ensures that every dish retains its original flavor and aesthetic appeal at cruising altitude. Whether it’s the bold and spicy Sichuan cuisine or the delicate and refined Jiangsu dishes, both are artfully interpreted on the onboard menu.

The brand-new menu embodies the philosophical spirit of A harmony of five flavors, where each dish blends cultural significance with modern aesthetics, allowing passengers to experience more than just a meal—it’s a deep dive into cultural exploration. In addition to in-flight dining, Cathay Pacific has also announced that it will soon release a three-part documentary that delves into the cultural stories and creative concepts behind the dishes, enriching customers’ understanding of Chinese culinary culture during their journey.

Starting in April, Savor the Flavors of China will be the first to unveil Trying something new for the first time dishes, featuring a selected classic each month, allowing travelers to discover new delights every time they board. This year, it will also introduce dishes from the Sichuan, Fujian, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang cuisines, with plans to roll out all eight major culinary styles by 2026. Complemented by wines from the mainland and traditional teas, Savor the Flavors of China elevates the dining experience to a multi-dimensional taste sensation.

Cathay Pacific is investing over HKD 100 billion to enhance its fleet, digital innovation, and service upgrades. This includes the renovation of the Yilian Hall lounge at Hong Kong International Airport and expansion plans for lounges in Beijing and New York. Starting this August, the entire fleet will introduce high-speed wireless internet, improving in-flight entertainment and work experiences.
Cathay Pacific is bringing traditional culinary culture to the international stage through Savor the Flavors of China, offering travelers a food experience rich in cultural depth and further solidifying its position in the international high-end airline market.
