Developed by the independent French team SHK Interactive, "A Silent Desolation" made its official debut last year, blending an atmosphere akin to that of "Death Stranding" while offering a unique experience of its own. This distinctiveness has captured the attention of a large number of players, with over forty thousand people currently on the wish list. In appreciation of the players' support, the developers recently released an updated development progress video, showcasing richer features and an all-new weather system, generating excitement among fans.
"A Silent Desolation" is an open-world survival adventure game featuring a third-person perspective. Set in a distant future where humanity hasn't survived on Earth for centuries, the planet has become perilously dangerous and nearly uninhabitable. Players take on the role of an interstellar traveler who unexpectedly crashes on Earth, forced to explore the desolate terrain, establish a base, and gradually uncover the past of this forsaken land.
The core gameplay revolves around exploring the environment while searching for resources to rebuild an abandoned launch base, which includes rebooting generators, repairing the control room, and restoring the oxygen system. Thus, resource collection is crucial. The harsh weather conditions on Earth, especially acid rain that corrodes equipment, make resource management even more important. The quality of materials can range from perfect to rusted, impacting the durability of the items you create. Additionally, purer materials can extend the lifespan of your equipment and offer better resistance to natural disasters like acid rain. Striking a sensible balance in material usage becomes one of the main challenges for players.
As players explore, they can strategically set up various facilities, like placing oxygen stations, building shelters to withstand acid rain, deploying energy facilities, and constructing bridges to help navigate uncharted terrain. They can also utilize tools like oil wells and water catchers for diverse gameplay. Additionally, lurking in the external environment are monsters, and the presence of radiation zones and anomalies further heightens the thrill of exploration.
The official latest video showcases a multitude of new features, including a rebuilt map that highlights a city engulfed by fungi, an enhanced dynamic weather system, redesigned creatures, and object interactions affected by acid rain and solar storms. These intricate elements come together to shape the desolation and sense of crisis in a post-apocalyptic world.
《A Silent Desolation》 is set to make its debut soon, primarily on PC Steam.
