The creators and showrunners of this series are the Emmy-nominated Roberto Patino and David Wiener. In a statement, they mentioned that they have been loyal fans of this game since its debut in 2007, Assassin’s Creed. Throughout the daily production process, they feel both excited and humbled by the endless possibilities that Assassin’s Creed has to offer.
They further pointed out that this series not only boasts a grand narrative structure, thrilling action sequences, and gripping plot twists, but is also deeply rooted in the human experience, exploring the quest for meaning, the struggle with identity and destiny, and the doubts surrounding faith. The story also tackles important issues such as power, violence, sex, greed, and revenge.
Regarding the value of human connections, the two creators expressed that the core goal of this series is to explore the significance of interpersonal connections across cultures and eras, as well as what humanity stands to lose when these connections are absent. They feel honored to collaborate with the outstanding teams at Ubisoft and Netflix, striving to create works that will surprise fans around the world.
Peter Friedlander, Vice President of Netflix’s Film and Television Division, stated that when they first announced their collaboration with Ubisoft in 2020, they had a vision to bring the rich world of Assassin’s Creed to the screen in an innovative way. Now, after years of hard work, part of that vision is finally coming to life. Under the meticulous direction of Roberto Patino and David Wiener, the team is working tirelessly to create an epic adventure that pays homage to the legendary Assassin’s Creed series, allowing long-time fans and new audiences to experience the thrill of the Brotherhood like never before.
In addition, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, Austin Dill, and Matt O’Toole from Ubisoft’s film and television division will serve as executive producers for this series.
Executive producer and content director Boykin emphasized their excitement about collaborating with Roberto, David, and their partners at Netflix to bring this beloved series to the screen.
