Nintendo has officially confirmed that its Virtual Boy game library will be released on the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service, following its announcement of plans last year.
Starting February 17, subscribers will be able to experience this experimental 3D console game that was released in 1995 on the existing Switch and the upcoming Switch 2.
To recreate the 3D effects of the past, players need to use the special Virtual Boy accessories, which offer two options: a standard version and a more affordable paper version.
The debut compilation will feature 7 games, including renowned titles like Mario’s Tennis and Wario Land. Following this, 9 new games will be added, with the most anticipated being Zero Racer and D-Hopper, both of which were never officially released back in the day, making them truly Lost Works.
Although the Virtual Boy failed to penetrate the mainstream market when it was first launched in 1995 and was soon discontinued, over time, this console has gradually become a coveted item among collectors.
This digital revival gives players the chance to re-explore this unique and fantastical chapter in Nintendo’s history.
Readers can preview the upcoming lineup of Virtual Boy games launching on the Switch through the official released video.
