In this morning's Xbox Games Showcase 2025, Obsidian Entertainment officially announced the release of The Outer Worlds 2 in 2025. This sci-fi RPG will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and Steam, and will launch on the very first day on Xbox Game Pass, further supporting the new Xbox Play Anywhere feature.
It's been six years since the previous installment, and The Outer Worlds 2 carries on the unique style of Obsidian Entertainment, with the first game receiving immense love from players upon its release. In this sequel, the studio has revealed that the gameplay system will be more dynamic, offering a richer dialogue system with more choices. Players' decisions will directly impact the storyline and the development of NPCs, while the overall freedom in gameplay will also see a significant boost, allowing options to solve problems through combat or alternative methods.
In this game, players take on the role of a law enforcer executing order in space. Theoretically, your character is supposed to help citizens solve problems and maintain public safety. However, considering Obsidian's signature creative style, whether you end up being a beloved hero or a ruthless opportunist entirely depends on the choices you make within the game.
For example, if you choose to be Law Enforcer, you might be filled with passion, tackling everything with force; but if you are Traitor, you will become cunning, acting like a fugitive trying to evade your former employer under the protection of the Earth Council.
Currently, The Outer Worlds 2 has begun accepting pre-orders, and the studio has also revealed that two storyline DLCs will be released in the future, giving players even more content to enjoy.
