Developed by the Ukraine-based studio GSC Game World, the FPS survival game Stalker 2 has recently rocked the gaming world by selling at least 2 million copies and continues to see its player base grow on platforms like Steam and Xbox Game Pass. Despite its rocky start due to some pesky bugs that had gamers throwing shade, the studio has been on a relentless mission to push out updates. The result? The game’s performance has seen some serious leveling up.
In a recent interview with international media, GSC Game World announced that their game sales have soared past the development costs, and they expressed gratitude towards the global gaming community for its incredible support. The studio’s CEO, Maxim Krippa, also shared that while they’re looking to explore new genres, their primary focus will remain on developing sequels for the “Stalker” series.
Word on the street is that the studio is currently in talks with Netflix about potentially spinning the epic game “Stalker 2” into a film or a TV series. They’re also plotting to roll out a multiplayer mode and narrative-driven DLCs for the game. The multiplayer action is set to feature all-out deathmatches and team-based PvP showdowns, with more juicy details expected to drop by 2025. Get ready, gamers and binge-watchers—things are about to get intense!
However, considering the bugs encountered at the initial launch of the game, it’s hoped that if a multiplayer mode is introduced later, the studio will get their act together with server support and debugging in advance to ensure that the mode rolls out in a more polished state.
