Launched for the first time on the Steam platform in 2022, and later expanded to home console versions, Teardown has garnered over 100,000 positive reviews. It is now set to introduce an exciting new multiplayer mode. In this mode, players can choose to collaborate or engage in team battles, embarking on unrestricted destruction activities together!
Developed by Tuxedo Labs, this game blends pixel art style with crime action elements, offering both first-person and third-person perspectives in an open-world design. Gameplay allows players to leverage their surroundings to creatively and forcefully solve problems, orchestrating the perfect heist. Players can use explosives or vehicles to demolish walls and create shortcuts, and they can stack objects and construct structures to pave their escape route, all in the quest to complete their robbery missions.
The freedom to play in Teardown is incredibly high, thanks to its completely destructible environment. Players can experiment with various methods to obtain their objectives and make their escape. For instance, you can drive in a giant construction vehicle to create chaos, or use a crane to lift cars and other heavy objects for some serious demolition action. When faced with tricky items, players can also drill holes in their surfaces and place explosives inside, enjoying the thrill of diverse destruction techniques.
The game features multiple modes, and in the campaign mode, players take on the role of the owner of a struggling demolition company, accepting missions from dubious characters that primarily involve robbery or other illegal activities. Additionally, the game offers a free and unrestricted sandbox mode, as well as puzzle challenges.
According to official news, the game will soon be adding a multiplayer mode that will support cooperative play in both campaign and sandbox modes, along with a new 4v4 team deathmatch mode. This mode will allow players to utilize firearms, explosives, and vehicles, showcasing spectacular scenes of destruction as they take down both enemies and structures. Additionally, multiplayer will support a variety of mods, initially available on the Steam version before rolling out to other platforms.
Teardown is now available on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC Steam. It's worth noting that the publisher for the console version has changed from Saber Interactive to Coffee Stain. The exact implementation time is yet to be officially announced, so stay tuned!
