The Order: 1886 is a collaboration between Ready at Dawn and PlayStation, launched in the summer of 2015 on the PS4 platform. However, it seems that there are no current hopes for a sequel.
According to insights from Ready at Dawn studio, their partnership with Sony has not been ideal. In an interview with foreign media, they mentioned that some creative content was forced to be cut due to decisions made by Sony.
Despite receiving acclaim for its visual presentation, "The Order: 1886" faced criticism for its short playtime and relatively sparse content. The studio pointed out that these issues are linked to decisions made by Sony, such as the rush to market.
It's worth mentioning that Ready at Dawn was acquired by Facebook (Meta) in 2023, but ultimately announced its dissolution in 2024. The studio's head, Andrea Pessino, had proposed a sequel plan to Sony, but it was also declined.
Given the challenges faced, Andrea Pessino expressed that past collaboration experiences may have caused the studio pain, and perhaps not continuing the partnership is for the best. Although Sony has not responded to this, from a business perspective, the sales of "The Order: 1886" were underwhelming, which makes the chances of pushing for a sequel quite slim.
Set in Victorian London, this work explores the conflict between cults and werewolves. Despite high expectations, the hope for a sequel has dwindled over time.
