Craig Duncan, the head of Xbox Game Studios, recently announced on the Xbox Podcast that the launch of the rebooted version of Fable will be pushed back to 2026. While this news may disappoint many players, he emphasized that the delay will be worthwhile, and he hopes everyone will continue to look forward to the final presentation of this work.
Since the reboot of Fable was first announced in 2020, the excitement among players has been skyrocketing, marking the first new news about the series in nearly 20 years. However, the first official trailer didn’t drop until 2023, revealing that the game’s development is still ongoing. With a massive amount of scripts and text, along with the rich dialogues and plotlines from various character interactions, Xbox Game Studios is certainly handling this beloved classic IP with caution, especially since it’s a key title for the Xbox platform and the Western market.
In addition, Obsidian, part of Xbox Game Studios, not only launched the fantasy RPG “Avowed” this year, which has a similar style to “Fable,” but is also planning to release the highly anticipated “The Outer Worlds 2” in the latter half of this year. Therefore, the news of the “Fable” delay isn’t surprising to many players, as Xbox wouldn’t concentrate all its resources on a single project.
