"Thronefall," whipped up by the indie spirit of Germany's Grizzly Games, hit the gaming market last October and popped off in a big way by launching an Early Access experience in 2023. It wasn’t long before it made a splash on the Nintendo Switch platform, quickly becoming a darling among gamers. Racking up nearly twenty thousand glowing reviews on Steam and pushing past the million sales mark across platforms, "Thronefall" has both players and its creators riding a major high.
To mark this epic milestone, Grizzly Games is dropping a major update on February 11th, injecting 12 brand-new mini-modes to amp up your gameplay experience. Among the fresh goodies is the adrenaline-pumping "True Endless" mode, where players face wave after wave of attacks in an unending cycle of day and night, battling it out until they either fall in defeat or wave the white flag. And for a total role reversal, there's "Reverse Siege" – players get to be the attackers, tasked with demolishing enemy fortifications and castles under the cover of night to rake in some serious coin, all while dialing up the strategic fun. Get ready to have your game face on, because this update is no small deal!
"Thronefall" kicks off with a mantra of simplifying complexity, weaving in hack-and-slash elements that let newbies get in on the action without breaking a sweat. As the game unfolds, players need to whip up farms and garrisons using their limited resources to turbocharge their kingdom's growth, beefing up defenses in the process. And when night falls? That's showtime—players hit the frontline themselves, facing challenges head-on to defend their domain, battling it out until the last breath. This mash-up of strategy and action keeps every player on their toes, eagerly anticipating what’s next.
In addition to the previously mentioned updates, the new release will also introduce a feature that allows players to design their own levels, giving them the freedom to determine their difficulty and challenges. Plus, there's the cool 'Summoner’s Gold' mode where collecting gold is the name of the game. All of these enhancements will further enrich the gameplay experience of "Thronefall."
This epic tower defense title is currently live on both Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. Whether you're a strategy game aficionado or a newcomer, it's definitely worth checking out.
