Tomb Raider is celebrating its 30th anniversary, and with its popularity on the rise, this classic game is about to see several new releases. In addition to a new movie featuring the iconic archaeologist Lara Croft, played by the talented actress Sophie Turner from Game of Thrones, one of the beloved titles in the series is also making its debut on mobile platforms.
Initially launched in 2013 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, this title has now been fully remade by Feral Interactive in London and is officially available on iOS and Android platforms. This studio has previously succeeded in porting several technically demanding games to mobile, including several titles from the Hitman series.
This mobile version isn’t a stripped-down edition; it includes the full original campaign along with all downloadable content, and has undergone comprehensive optimization in both graphics and performance to meet the demands of next-generation hardware. The game continues the cinematic origin story, intricately portraying how Lara Croft evolves from a novice explorer to a resilient survivor after her shipwreck on Yamatai Island.
The new version of the game fully supports controller operations and offers a customizable touch interface to accommodate both left-handed and right-handed players. It features a fixed virtual joystick and a dynamic touchpad for aiming and camera movement. For players who prefer traditional PC controls, mouse and keyboard support is available on iPadOS and Android devices.
The graphics settings have been finely optimized according to different devices, allowing high-end devices to enhance display performance up to a stunning 120FPS. Players can choose from four different modes: the Graphics mode that focuses on quality, the Performance mode optimized for performance, the Performance Plus mode that further enhances smoothness, and the Battery Saver mode designed to save battery life. The latter extends endurance by lowering both graphics quality and frame rates.
With the official launch of this game today on the App Store and Google Play, Tomb Raider has further joined the ranks of platforms bringing classic console games to mobile. Whether you’re a veteran revisiting old favorites or a newcomer diving into the origins of Lara Croft, this release is undoubtedly a major highlight for the anniversary celebration of the series.
Tomb Raider is now available, landing on iOS and Android platforms, priced at £12.99 GBP / $19.99 USD.
