Spanning over 13,000 square feet, JJ8 Hong Kong Zhongba Club has officially opened in Kwun Tong, marking the first large-scale Chinese-style eight-ball billiard hall in Hong Kong. The new venue is co-managed by seven-time world snooker champion Ronnie O’Sullivan and Mr. Chung Yuet Lung. It’s ideally located on Cheng Yip Street, just a few minutes’ walk from Kwun Tong MTR station, making it super convenient for billiards enthusiasts to visit.
The venue’s design blends modern industrial aesthetics with classic billiards culture, not only ensuring fully functional spaces but also focusing on creating an inviting atmosphere. It offers a comfortable yet professionally appealing environment for both sports and socializing. Inside, there are 14 international standard 8-ball pool tables equipped with a top-notch lighting system to guarantee optimal visual performance during competitions and practice sessions. Additionally, the venue features 2 English pool tables, 3 private rooms, 1 competition-specific table, and a dedicated practice room designed exclusively for O’Sullivan.
This practice room was personally designed by O’Sullivan and is equipped with competition-grade facilities, providing a professional training space for high-level players. JJ8 also features a darts area, K rooms, and a multifunctional party room, creating a social atmosphere that balances sports and entertainment. Each of the three private rooms comes with top-notch billiard tables and comfortable lounge areas, making them perfect for corporate events, private parties, or team training.
On the opening day, the atmosphere was electrifying, with stars shining bright. O’Sullivan attended as a shareholder and joined Mr. Chung Yiu Lung in officiating the ribbon-cutting and the ceremonial roast pig cutting to celebrate the new venue. In his speech, he expressed his deep impression of Hong Kong’s snooker scene and emphasized his optimism about the development potential of Chinese Eight Ball in Asia. He also promised to visit Hong Kong regularly to personally engage with local players, offering guidance and sharing his invaluable experiences from years on the professional circuit.
O’Sullivan mentioned that while he has primarily been involved with English billiards, the 中八 table tennis is still a new area for him. However, it is precisely the freshness and potential of this sport that has driven him to become one of the shareholders of JJ8 and consider further involvement in 中八 events and promoting related activities after his retirement.
Mr. Chung Yuek Lung also mentioned at the opening ceremony that JJ8 aims to elevate the local table tennis movement towards greater professionalism, providing a long-term development platform for local players through world-class facilities and coaching resources. The club plans to offer training courses ranging from beginner to professional levels, led by experienced coaches, covering techniques, tactics, and mental skills, to help students enhance their overall capabilities.
In the future, JJ8 will host several events, including member tournaments, invitation competitions, and international friendly matches.
