Cathay Pacific has announced that it will launch an all-new initiative in August 2025, equipping all flights with seatback in-flight entertainment systems and high-speed Wi-Fi services. This significant step aims to enhance the overall experience for passengers across all cabins, aligning with its vision of becoming one of the world’s leading airlines.
In the future, regardless of whether passengers are traveling in Economy Class, Business Class, or First Class, they will enjoy the same quality of in-flight entertainment and connectivity experience. Cathay stated that passengers in First and Business Class, as well as Diamond Card members, can enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi during their journey. Other passengers can also opt to pay for the service, ensuring that everyone stays connected to the world.
Guillaume Vivet, General Manager of Customer Experience and Design at Cathay Pacific, mentioned that this upgrade plan not only reinforces Cathay’s leading position in human-centric design and digital innovation but also addresses passengers’ desire for stable connectivity and high-quality entertainment. Whether traveling for business or leisure, passengers can enjoy an exceptional, hotel-like experience on every flight, making their journey all the more unforgettable.
In fact, Cathay Pacific has been an industry pioneer since 1992 when it was the first to introduce seat-back entertainment systems on flights. By 2024, Cathay Pacific will further elevate the onboard experience with the launch of 4K ultra-high-definition screens and HDR (High Dynamic Range) imaging technology. This significantly enhances in-flight visuals and color performance, allowing passengers to enjoy a cinema-like viewing experience while soaring through the skies.
Currently, more than 90% of Cathay Pacific’s long-haul flights are equipped with wireless connectivity. The company plans to extend this service to all aircraft by mid-2025, aiming to achieve the seamless connection goal of All routes, all cabins, all time slots.
Cathay Pacific is one of the few airlines that offers both fleet-wide seat-back entertainment and high-speed Wi-Fi services. This comprehensive upgrade will further enhance its competitive edge in the premium aviation market, aligning with its previous achievements in in-flight interactive interface and design, which have earned international accolades such as the German Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award.
