Cathay Pacific has announced the launch of a brand new direct flight route from Hong Kong to Munich, marking its first-ever direct service to the Bavarian capital. This move further strengthens the airline’s presence in the European market, offering passengers more convenient options. The new route will operate four times a week, featuring the Airbus A350-900 aircraft equipped with Business, Premium Economy, and Economy class, ensuring a comfortable journey whether for business or leisure.
According to Cathay Pacific, the round-trip flights to Munich are numbered CX301 and CX300, operating on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Flight CX301 departs from Hong Kong International Airport at 1:10 AM and arrives in Munich at 7:55 AM local time; the return flight CX300 takes off from Germany at 1:55 PM and lands back in Hong Kong at 6:50 AM the following day.
Apart from Munich, Cathay Pacific also launched seasonal flights to Rome earlier this month and plans to restart its Brussels route in August. In collaboration with its low-cost carrier Hong Kong Express, they are set to add a total of 18 new destinations by 2025. During this summer’s peak season, Cathay will operate nearly 100 round-trip flights to Europe each week, covering 12 cities including Amsterdam, Paris, Frankfurt, Milan, Madrid, Barcelona, London Heathrow, Manchester, Zurich, Rome, and Munich.
Cathy Pacific’s Customer and Business President, Liu Kaishi, emphasizes that Munich stands out as a key economic and transportation hub in Europe, balancing manufacturing and culture. This unique position marks an important step for the group in expanding its European route network. Through code-sharing collaborations with partner airlines, passengers can seamlessly connect from Munich to other European cities, enhancing overall travel fluency.
Additionally, Cathay Cargo anticipates launching seven weekly freighter services between Hong Kong and Europe in the summer of 2025, in line with its passenger network, further solidifying Hong Kong’s position as an international aviation hub.
