The first Rosewood Hotel in Japan, the Rosewood Miyakojima, has officially opened its doors. Nestled on an untouched tropical peninsula and embraced by spectacular sea views and pristine nature, it offers guests a luxurious resort experience that combines local culture, stunning scenery, and personalized service. The hotel features 55 villas and rooms, each named in the Okinawan dialect to reflect different geographical characteristics, ranging from cliff tops to the beach, each with its unique charm. Additionally, there are three exclusive residences equipped with dedicated butlers and private terraces, allowing guests to indulge in a leisurely holiday amidst exquisite design and service.
The hotel features four distinctive restaurants and bars, blending Japanese and international cuisine. The all-day dining restaurant NAGI combines Italian flavors with Japanese techniques, while the seafood restaurant MAAS offers fresh catches from the surrounding waters. The seaside bar YUKUU provides a relaxed atmosphere for enjoying fine drinks, and the upcoming CHOMA will showcase the essence of Japanese cuisine through a selection of sushi, tempura, teppanyaki, and yakitori, all highlighted in a scenic seaside pavilion.
Moreover, the iconic Asaya Spa at the luxurious hotel has made its debut in Miyako Island, bringing together the traditional wellness wisdom of Okinawa. It offers healing treatments that combine local herbs and sea salt, featuring six therapy rooms, a yoga studio, and a fitness center to help guests find balance for their body and mind. The hotel also invites guests to experience traditional karate lessons in the birthplace of karate, guided by local masters, to explore the secrets of mind-body coordination.
To enhance guests’ immersive experience of Miyako Island’s culture and nature, the hotel has meticulously planned a series of activities, including snorkeling to explore vibrant coral reefs, getting up close with sea turtles, traditional pottery, and weaving workshops. They’ve even set up Rose Buds and the “Gorgeous Explorers” club for kids, where through fun and educational hands-on activities, along with independent growth experiences rooted in Japanese traditions, the whole family can dive into the local culture.
Designed by the renowned Dutch designer Piet Boon, the Miyako Island Luxury Hotel blends seamlessly with the island’s pristine landscape, using natural materials and minimalist lines to showcase the unique local aesthetics. It embodies the sustainable development philosophy, perfectly reflecting the brand spirit of “A Sense of Place” by Rosewood. General Manager Noriko Nakayama emphasizes the desire for guests to experience the ecological beauty of Miyako Island through the hotel, encouraging participation in conservation programs to become “Turtle Guardians.”
