adidas Originals has once again invited Samuel L. Jackson to be the global spokesperson for the Spring 2026 Superstar collection, bringing a fresh perspective to this iconic shoe that's been around for years through a striking new visual project. This latest initiative, directed by Thibaut Grevet, is set against a surreal space known as Hotel Superstar, where the concept of time is stripped away, allowing characters to weave in and out of endlessly extending corridors and rooms, creating a tension that sits perfectly between film and fashion spectacle.
In the film, Samuel L. Jackson takes on the role of a guide, navigating through various hotel scenes and encountering several iconic figures from diverse fields. The lineup spans across music, fashion, sports, and street culture, featuring global music sensations like JENNIE, model Kendall Jenner, soccer prodigy Lamine Yamal, music creator Baby Keem, NBA superstar James Harden, skateboarding icon Tyshawn Jones, and British singer-songwriter Olivia Dean. These eight representatives from different cultural backgrounds collectively showcase the multifaceted identity of the Superstar, underscoring the enduring influence this sneaker has held across generations and communities over the years.
Since its launch, Superstar has established itself as a key emblem of the brand with its signature shell toe design and three stripes. The Spring/Summer 2026 collection retains the classic silhouette while reworking proportions and materials to create styles more aligned with everyday wear and street aesthetics. The menswear focuses on the looser fits loose cut, intentionally broadening the shoulder seams and sleeve positions in jackets and athletic tops, complemented by striking red, black, and white color-blocking for an enhanced visual impact. This collection also introduces Tyshawn denim shorts and patterned jerseys, merging denim fabric with sporty elements to give the overall silhouette a more urban vibe.
In women's wear, the brand reinterprets the classic Superstar Tracktop, enhancing its three-dimensional feel with a more fitted cut and contrasting color blocks. Kendall Jenner is the first to rock Equipment Blocking Red Jacket in this campaign, featuring a bold red base accented with contrasting colors that highlight the shoulder and waist lines, showcasing how a sporty jacket can seamlessly blend into everyday looks. The collection also expands to include various fitted tops and cropped designs, emphasizing layered styling possibilities, making the Superstar not just a staple for athletic settings, but a central piece for any outfit.
Material usage is a standout feature this season. The collection juxtaposes sleek faux leather textures with crochet detailing, creating a striking contrast in quality. The faux leather offers a clean silhouette and a lustrous finish, while the crochet elements introduce a handcrafted texture and soft layers. These two materials intertwine across jackets, tops, and accessories, blurring the boundaries between athletic and street styles. Some pieces even combine two or more fabrics in a single garment, emphasizing the transformation of structure and touch, echoing the multiple space concept constructed by Hotel Superstar.
The sneakers have undergone some adjustments in detail, which include an update to the leather texture on the upper and a reworking of the logo's proportion on the tongue, while still retaining the iconic shell toe and rubber outsole structure for that recognizable flair. Through the interpretations of various figures, the Superstar transcends mere nostalgia; it re-enters the heart of pop culture in a cross-disciplinary manner.
