Recently, the renowned boutique Dover Street Market, co-founded by Rei Kawakubo and Adrian Joffe, announced the launch of its own brand DSM during Paris Men’s Fashion Week. According to WWD, this brand will be part of the COMME des GARÇONS family and will be led by designer Kei Ninomiya, who is known for his personal brand noir kei ninomiya, overseeing its inaugural collection and subsequent lines.
Adrian Joffe emphasized during an interview with WWD that the role of Not a guest designer. for the second prince is to keep him as the long-term creative leader, further deepening the brand’s innovation. Joffe mentioned that they plan to introduce other creators under the DSM brand, with each creator showcasing different ideas, concepts, and brand names.
Although Kei Ninomiya’s brand is renowned for its artistic clothing, his collection designed for DSM will take a different direction, focusing on more everyday and versatile pieces. Ninomiya describes his first concept for DSM as Nameless Team Apparel, aiming to create garments that suggest a shared visual identity, are refined, and carry symbolic significance, while also adjusting his signature avant-garde aesthetic towards essential wear, knitwear, and familiar silhouettes needed in people’s daily lives.
