At the Formula 1® 75 event held at the O2 venue in London, the world-class FIA Formula 1 World Championship trophy made its debut in a custom Louis Vuitton hard case. This celebration marks the 75th anniversary of Formula 1 racing and kicks off the new season, where drivers and team principals from ten competing teams will unveil the fresh color schemes for their new vehicles set to debut in 2025 alongside fans.
This event marks one of the official collaborations between Formula 1® and Louis Vuitton, where the hard case trophy for the FIA Formula One World Championship™ will be awarded at the end of the year to the best performing driver of the season.
The FIA Formula 1 World Championship™ hard-shell trophy continues the tradition of Louis Vuitton's exceptional craftsmanship, meticulously created at their workshop in Asnières, France. The front panel of the case features a Damier check design, hand-painted in classic black and white, showcasing a 'V' that symbolizes 'Victory' and 'Vuitton', perfectly integrating the colors of Formula 1® and the finish line. The interior is lined with black leather and ultra-fine microfiber to protect the precious trophy, while the exterior is adorned with leather edges and incorporates classic brass corners, locks, and clasps that have been a hallmark of Louis Vuitton trunks since the 1860s.
As early as 1897, under the leadership of Georges Vuitton, the offspring of Louis Vuitton, this workshop began designing the first automobile luggage. Over time, the connection between Louis Vuitton and automobile culture became increasingly intertwined. When Georges Vuitton foresaw the rise of cars and travel, he invented a durable canvas material called "Vuittonite" to replace traditional leather. This innovation ensured that the luggage could withstand the elements, ultimately evolving into the classic canvas used by Louis Vuitton today.
With this hard-case trophy, Louis Vuitton continues its brand tradition by creating a trophy case that is both portable and display-ready for the world’s most influential and esteemed sporting events. From the workshop to the racetrack, Louis Vuitton collaborates with Formula 1®, focusing on teamwork, precision, and innovation, perfectly blending the realms of fashion and sports in pursuit of extraordinary goals.
