At the launch of TOM FORD’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection, Haider Ackermann made a striking debut as the head designer, earning recognition as one of the most significant figures in the fashion world. He even received a personal hug from Tom Ford himself, marking a remarkable closing to this new chapter.
Since being appointed as the Creative Director in September 2023, Haider Ackermann’s spectacular show has become the highlight of this season’s fashion week. Previous designer Peter Hawkings, who worked closely with Tom Ford and was part of the Gucci era, was unexpectedly dismissed after only a year in charge. In contrast, Ackermann is a top-tier design talent, recently completing a collaboration on Jean Paul Gaultier’s haute couture collection. After a period of relative quiet, he has re-emerged as the best candidate amidst the succession turmoil.
When it comes to the similarities between Tom Ford and Haider Ackermann, both excel at creating a silky, alluring quality, and they maintain close ties with the fashion industry’s stars. Tom Ford’s fashion shows are renowned for their star-studded guests, while Ackermann holds his own, seen as the matchmaker for the likes of Kylie Jenner from the Kardashian clan and Timothée Chalamet.
Before the grand show, Ackermann shared nude promotional shots taken by photographer Ethan James Green on Instagram, heralding the return of Tom Ford’s iconic visual style. When the show officially commenced, the models deliberately slowed their pace, creating a stark contrast to the usual fast-paced ready-to-wear runways, delivering a cinematic tension.
This season’s collection features a variety of classic evening wear: from high-slit one-shoulder dresses that reach the thigh, to fitted suits revitalized by bright color combinations. Silvers and cobalt blues dance with neon greens and pinks; while purples blend beautifully with chocolate browns, creating a refreshing palette. After the show, the brand has also prepared a casual evening ensemble, with jackets draped casually, and as day breaks, silken robes paired with newspapers create a lingering reminiscence of the entire showcase.
Interestingly, unlike many brands this season opting for fur or faux fur materials, Ackermann completely steers clear of this trend. The entire showcase features just one mohair sweater and a soft lilac tassel gown, while the rest of the collection emphasizes leather, including a white crocodile skin top, a biker jacket, and single-handed leather gloves, all exuding a strong sense of individuality.
Even though this grand show was revealed after the awards season wrapped up and missed the immediate red carpet spotlight, it’s easy to envision these fitted suits and silky evening gowns becoming favorites among celebrities. With major events lined up, they’re sure to make a dazzling appearance soon.
This information is the essence of this grand show. Let’s look forward to more updates from Paris Fashion Week!
