ISSEY MIYAKE EYES has recently unveiled a new eyewear design UROKO, inspired by the works of the renowned ceramic artist Shoji Kamoda, showcasing a natural texture reminiscent of scales.
This mirror is a collaborative creation by ISSEY MIYAKE and Kaneko Optical, set to make its debut in the IM MEN SS26Dancing Texture collection. The design pays homage to the avant-garde and unique surfaces of Kamoda’s works, particularly showcasing its iconic uroko pattern. Combining cutting-edge 3D printing technology with traditional Japanese craftsmanship, this mirror boasts a complex and three-dimensional silhouette, with each piece meticulously polished to exude a distinct charm.
The UROKO mirror features a lightweight titanium construction that marries durability with comfort. Its aesthetically pleasing brushed finish shapes crisp edges for the frame, while the layered design of the mirror cleverly plays with light and shadow, reminiscent of the scales found in traditional Japanese art. This collection includes both optical frames and sunglasses, delivering clear visuals and a subtly elegant style, continuing the brand's consistent pursuit of aesthetics.
The suggested retail price for the UROKO mirror style is ¥99,000 (approximately $632), and it is expected to officially launch on February 27, 2026, at ISSEY MIYAKE.
