Montblanc has unveiled its Spring/Summer 2026 leather goods collection, directed under the creative vision of Artistic Director Marco Tomasetta. This series transforms the art of writing into a timeless expression of fashion, drawing color inspiration from the cinematic worlds crafted by Montblanc, while also incorporating elements from natural landscapes. The season’s palette features three main tones: Khaki, Velvet Green, and Fauve, complemented by bright accents of Tangerine and Saffron, adding layers of vibrant color to a grounded base. The focus is not on a single bag style but rather on the handling of materials and the arrangement of colors. Notably, Corteccia leather introduces a Sfumato gradient effect, marking a significant technical treatment within the design.

The term Sfumato refers to a color treatment method characterized by a natural transition from deep to light shades. When applied to Corteccia leather, it creates a soft layering effect on the surface, producing subtle gradients that change with the light. This season, the two color tones Fauve and Velvet Green both utilize this technique. Fauve has a warm, earthy orange-brown hue that exudes a cozy and stable visual warmth; Velvet Green skews towards a rich, deep green, further emphasizing its three-dimensionality under the gradient effect. The leather’s appearance transcends a flat plane, showcasing delicate variations from different angles, thus enhancing the material’s expression.
This gradient treatment is not just found in individual products; it extends across multiple lines, ensuring a cohesive color palette throughout. When the same materials and tones are applied to various types of leather goods—from everyday bags to travel designs—it maintains a unified layer, enhancing the visual coherence of the entire collection.

This year’s first wave of leather goods introduces a wearable writing concept. Two leather storage pouches inspired by notebooks are designed to accommodate a Montblanc medium notebook, featuring an external slot for writing instruments. The writing tool loops are crafted from Khaki and Saffron leather, allowing them to be worn around the neck or secured to a belt or bag, making writing tools easily accessible while also serving as a stylish detail.

In addition to Corteccia leather, the collection also prominently features Khaki. This season, Khaki is widely used across various leather goods, creating a natural transition with Velvet Green and Fauve. The earthy tones flow seamlessly without harsh contrasts, instead establishing a stable base with closely matched color temperatures, which enhances the overall harmony of the look.

The Extreme 3.0 collection continues the iconic geometric embossed leather, featuring a textured pattern that adds depth and highlights its durability. When the Khaki hue sweeps over the geometric textures, the surface reveals more distinct play of light and shadow. This season also sees the introduction of Jacquard 4810 fabric, which contrasts beautifully with the leather’s texture, adding layers to the material palette of the collection.
