Japan is renowned for its premium denim, but now the British fashion label Studio Nicholson has teamed up for the first time with the Japanese heritage brand YOSHIDA & Co.’s sub-line POTR, shifting focus to the lesser-known realm of Japanese nylon. Together, they’ve launched three meticulously handcrafted pieces made from high-quality nylon. The entire collection features Studio Nicholson’s signature Darkest Navy tones, exuding a subtle yet sophisticated design aesthetic.
This collaboration centers around a spacious Bonsac shoulder bag as its main piece, perfectly embodying the brand’s refined design philosophy. The collection also features a compact messenger bag and a key pouch, with all items subtly adorned with a monochromatic logo. The hidden stitching highlights the texture of the high-durability nylon. Adding a touch of luxury, the bag’s zipper pullers are crafted from premium tanned leather, exuding superior quality.
Nick Wakeman, the founder and creative director of Studio Nicholson, remarked on the unique and versatile properties of nylon. He pointed out that the This is a unique material with a color that falls between black, gray, and deep navy. It’s incredibly versatile, making it perfect for everyday outfits. collection is crafted entirely from 100% recycled high-density taffeta nylon, showcasing a matte, washed finish. The material undergoes a salt treatment and is enhanced with fluorine-free water-repellent properties, further boosting its practicality. The fabric features a three-layer bonding technology, while the lining is made from 70D high-tenacity ripstop nylon, striking a balance between aesthetics and durability.
The Studio Nicholson x POTR collaboration series will soon be available on the official Studio Nicholson website and simultaneously sold in the UK, Japan, and South Korea. In Hong Kong, the Studio Nicholson and Porter Yoshida & Co. stores will also launch the collection, with related products available at Dover Street Market Ginza in Tokyo.
