Since Jun Takahashi and the UNDERCOVER team first teamed up with fast fashion brand GU a few years ago to launch a popular collaboration series, their partnership has remained hot. Recently, they announced the establishment of a complete sub-line under the name UG, and teased their return to the market for Fall/Winter 2025.
This series showcases a variety of styles, featuring utility jackets and cleverly designed twisted-cut trousers that truly catch the eye. In terms of knitwear, the plush crew-neck sweater resonates beautifully with the cozy cardigan, the latter boasting the iconic Silent Noise graphic from UNDERCOVER on its back, highlighting the brand's unique design aesthetic.
Additionally, a major highlight of the collection is its tribute to classic cinema, particularly through the collaboration with E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, which has launched two T-shirts that allow both film enthusiasts and fashion followers to experience a sense of nostalgia.
When discussing his design concept, Takahashi mentioned: We pay special attention to the balanced concept of 'micro-stimulation' and try to incorporate elements of 'noise' into our designs; these stylistic choices are generally absent from UNDERCOVER, yet they form a unique language in our collaboration with GU. For instance, the intentionally exposed seams on the hooded sweatshirt and the MA-1 bomber jacket designed with a mix of materials. He added that he hopes female customers will be able to appreciate the subtle differences between men's and women's clothing, while wishing for this collection to naturally pair with more feminine pieces like skirts and tank tops.
The UNDERCOVER x GU 2025 Autumn/Winter UG collection has started selling at GU, with prices ranging from US$20 to US$100.
