Jordan Brand has just unveiled the latest flagship basketball shoe, the Air Jordan 40, lifting the veil on a design that embodies forty years of legendary spirit. This new sneaker not only marks a significant reflection on the history of the series but also signifies the dawn of a new era in basketball shoe design. Tailored for the stars of tomorrow, this performance shoe combines Nike’s two top-notch technologies for the first time—full-length ZoomX foam and full-length Zoom Strobel cushioning—delivering athletes unparalleled propulsion and an impressive 85% energy return, resulting in a fluid and effortless performance on the court.

ZoomX, Nike’s lightest and most responsive foam ever, has been widely used in long-distance running and racing shoes. Now, it makes its debut in the Air Jordan performance series, delivering a remarkable reduction in weight and a powerful burst of responsiveness. Paired with the full-length Zoom Strobel cushioning, which is positioned directly beneath the foot, it enhances the support and stability needed for quick starts and lateral movements. This collaboration of technologies marks the highest performance midsole configuration in Air Jordan history.

In terms of design, the Air Jordan 40 clearly carries forward the brand’s iconic shoe silhouette, infused with rich details that pay homage to its storied past. For instance, the upper is crafted from three pieces of premium leather, creating an elite fit that offers both comfort and stability. Inside, a dynamic lacing system ensures a 360-degree secure fit around the foot, subtly referencing Michael Jordan’s illustrious career marked by six championship victories. The outsole features a 40-degree angled herringbone pattern, which not only enhances on-court traction but also visually signifies the series entering its 40th year.

Chief Design Officer Jason Mayden stated that within the next year, Air Jordan 40 is expected to launch nine colorways, all featuring unique material combinations and design directions, continuously exploring the possibilities of balancing performance and style.

This pair of boots, embodying both classic and innovative styles, will officially debut on July 12, undoubtedly becoming the highlight on the courts this summer.
