Recently, professional skateboarder Nyjah Huston teamed up with Nike SB to create a brand-new sneaker: the SB Nyjah 4, which has been generating buzz in the skateboarding community. This new low-top shoe maintains the minimalist aesthetic first introduced with the SB Nyjah Free in 2018, while incorporating innovative technical elements into the design, giving it a distinctive edge.
Compared to the previous SB Nyjah series, the SB Nyjah 4 revisits a traditional tongue design while incorporating a range of functional features. For instance, the upper is crafted from reinforced mesh and includes rubber sidewalls for added durability. The heel area is equipped with a large TPU stabilizer, paired with comfortable Zoom Air cushioning to provide skateboarders with greater impact protection. Similar to its predecessors, the SB Nyjah 4 features a translucent sticky outsole design that not only enhances boardfeel but also delivers exceptional grip. The specially designed traction patterns further boost its functionality.
In terms of appearance, the branding on this shoe remains understated, with medium-sized Swoosh logos positioned on both sides of the shoe, a smaller Swoosh on the toe, and subtle Swoosh details along with the Nyjah lettering discreetly featured on the outsole and tongue pull tab. These design elements perfectly encapsulate the collaborative spirit between Huston and Nike SB.
According to reports, early images of the Nike SB Nyjah 4 briefly appeared on the Zumiez website. Although they have since been removed, the shoes are expected to officially launch in late summer or early fall this year, with a suggested retail price of approximately $110 USD.
